Happy in a Million Ways

I just finished making Caleb's stocking and had to get a picture of them hanging on our fireplace. It seems like we just barely had two to hang up. I haven't put up all the Christmas decorations yet. In fact, I am not putting up any this year because...
...we just moved this weekend into my parents house. Our house sold in five days and right now we are on plan B C D E F of where to live next, so for the holidays you can't beat home sweet home. Right?

Happy Halloween!

Carson and Caleb are dressed like a monkey and a banana this year. I figure it's not every year (hopefully) that I'll have a toddler and a baby so I couldn't resist this combination. You can see how thrilled Caleb is about it. It's not very easy trying to get a picture of them together, but Carson thought it was pretty cool that he got to hold his little brother. Thanks to talented Aunt Jennifer for being a good sport and attempting to get a shot of them together.

Blessed

We had Caleb's baby blessing on Sunday. It was a great day. I am so lucky to have such a wonderful family.

Brothers

Several people told me I was having "twins the hard way" when they found out we were expecting another baby so soon. I think I believe them. Here is a picture of Carson when he was five days old:
Here is Caleb when he was five days old:
Carson has been adjusting really well to his new brother. He likes to give him kisses on his head and has started getting concerned when Caleb cries, but most of the time he doesn't really notice that he's around. Caleb is a great baby during the day, but thinks it's fun to stay up all night. Hopefully he outgrows that soon.

I wanted to get some pictures of Carson before our new little guy gets here, and I couldn't be happier with how these turned out. His talented aunt took these great shots. Enjoy!

Update Part Two

Memorial Day weekend we took a little trip down to Moab with my parents and my sisters. We weren't sure how Carson would do since we had just returned from San Diego a few days before, but he was great. We booked a room at the last minute which we were happy about since it was a really busy weekend. However, we quickly realized that we had to pay the price for procrastinating because there was a spotlight shining directly into our window. All night long it seemed like it was the middle of the day outside. It was my first (and hopefully last) stay at a Motel 6, but we were happy to be able to be there, and I was happy to not be sleeping in a tent.

The first day we climbed up to Delicate Arch. I have hiked there several times and thought that I would probably be okay to do it even though I am quickly running out of lung capacity. I had to stop more than I would have liked to, but I made it. This hill is way steeper than it looks in the picture. On the way back down I kept thinking "I can't believe I walked up all this." Most days I can hardly make it up the stairs at my house without running out of breath. Jake also hiked with a baby on his belly, although I don't think it's quite the same when you know it is detachable. The weather was great on our hike. We got rained on a little, but it was better than scorching heat. The nice thing about it being a little rainy was that there weren't many people at the arch when we got there. We were able to take some fun pictures. We had a great time the rest of the weekend, but somehow I didn't end up with many pictures of it. We spent some time in Canyonlands, which wasn't as cool as Arches, and we drove to Dead Horse Point, which was really neat. We had a fun time and have hopefully had our fill of traveling because I am starting to wonder how I am even going to make it to the grocery store come August.

Blog Update Part One

I know, I know. You thought our family had become victims of the swine flu. Actually, we just haven't been in the blogging mood. We have actually had a lot going on, so it will take me a few posts to update.

A few weeks ago we went to San Diego on a Moon Family Vacation. It was the first time I had been on a trip with all of Jake's family, and we had a great time. Here are a few highlights:
Jake thought he would try out the manta ray food at Sea World before he let them have a taste. He always says he doesn't like seafood but I don't believe him. Carson took his job as a tour guide very seriously. So seriously, in fact, that he didn't fall asleep once the whole time we were at Sea World, the beach, the San Diego Zoo, or the San Diego temple grounds. He does not want to miss out on a party. He did fall asleep one time in the car, and here......on the plane ride home. He was really happy the whole time. He just refused to sleep. Here he is at the beach. He didn't like the water. It was pretty cold. He liked playing in the sand until it stuck to his fingers and he couldn't get it off. He did go swimming for the first time in the pool at the hotel. It took him a while, but he eventually liked it. Here we are at the San Diego temple. We stopped there on our way to the beach, hence the swimming suits. It was beautiful, and we had a great time. Thanks Hal and Gayle!

Family Pictures

When we found out that our family of three was unexpectedly turning into a family of four, we decided we better get a family picture taken before baby #2 started making an appearance in my belly. Thanks to my talented sister who took the photos despite the not-so-great weather (and for her expertise in Photoshop that helped me miraculously lose a few pounds.)
This is definitely my favorite of the bunch.
Carson loves his dad - I think the best part of his day is when Jake gets home from work.
I think you can tell who the boss is in our family.

We don't want to forget about this little guy. We found out that we are having another boy due August 26th. We are really excited!

8 Months Old

Thanks to talented Aunt Jennifer for these wonderful pictures.

I can't believe my baby boy is 8 months old today! It seems like just yesterday he was born, yet I can't imagine our family without him. He is growing up so fast. I guess he is just getting ready to be a big brother in August.

A Day at the Zoo

Carson took his first trip to the zoo yesterday. It was Free Zoo Day so it was packed, and most of the animals seemed to be wanting spring to arrive just as much as the rest of us. We had fun even though Carson was more interested in the trees and strollers than the animals. Carson is happy to be anywhere besides just home with his boring mom. This is a picture of him with his friends from our Mommy and Me group. Alice, Theo, Jayben, Anna, Carson, and Savannah

My favorite part of the trip was that Carson took the best nap there he has had all week. Too bad we can't take a trip to the zoo every day.

Grapes and Giggles

I guess after that last post, you'd think Carson has been sick for a whole month. Just to prove everyone is happy and healthy, we put together a little video. Enjoy.

Sick Baby = No Sleep for Mom

I know it's been a while, but we haven't really had much going on. The new year didn't start out too great since Carson and I were both sick. Poor Jake had to stay up by himself since I went to bed at 9:00. I started feeling better but Carson was having a hard time getting over a cold, so I finally took him to the doctor. I found out he had a sinus infection, which was okay. The doctor prescribed amoxicillin, which gave him a rash so we thought he was allergic to it. It turns out that he wasn't and he is finally starting to feel better. We also found out that he has asthma which was a little scary but the doctor said he should only get it when he is sick and that he will probably grow out of it. I guess I watched Malcolm in the Middle too much, because I imagined Carson turning into Stevie.
The doctor assured me he won't be sitting around sucking on an inhaler all the time. I had to go buy a nebulizer at a really great store that sells portable toilets, diabetic stockings, and shampoo that doesn't require any water. The guy was showing me how to use it when he pulled out thisand said "Just put this on him and let him breath the medicine. It takes about 10 minutes." I'm not sure if Carson is an abnormal 6 month old, but I was pretty sure he wasn't going to like that. The fact that the mask looks like a fish doesn't really matter, especially when the mask is half the size of your whole head. So we went home and tried it and it was unsuccessful to say the least. Luckily, the doctor had given me a tube to just hold in front of his face, and that seems to work much better. He is finally starting to get back to his normal happy self, which hopefully means I can get some sleep and get back to my normal happy self.
